Sophie Dickens exhibition in Trastanello and concert

A Village Becomes a Gallery

On the 10th of August 2024, Trastanello transformed into something we had never seen before—a living, breathing open-air gallery. For one day, art stepped out of studios and into the streets, doorways, and quiet corners of the village.

At the heart of it was Sophie Dickens, Trastanello resident, who presented a collection of her paintings and sculptures. Together, we helped her spread the exhibition throughout the village, allowing visitors to discover artworks as they wandered through narrow paths and stone spaces.

The day naturally evolved into an evening of music. Alongside Sophie, Alex her husband, performed, joined by Jesper Bodilsen on double bass, and a pianist friend, Amir, from Israel, who also calls Liguria home. Guests from France and South America added their voices, turning the gathering into something truly international.

Around a hundred people came—families, friends, neighbours. Everyone brought food, drinks, and something to share. As the evening unfolded, the village filled with music, conversation, and eventually dancing under the open sky.

For us, this day was more than an event. It was a reflection of everything we are trying to build here: a place where creativity, community, and openness come together naturally. For the first time in its history, Trastanello became a space not just to live in—but to experience together.
