Natural clay plaster

Finally – Clay Plaster

A nostalgic memory. A faint echo of childhood. The pleasantly cool summer kitchen at my grandparents’ house during long, hot holidays. That feeling stayed somewhere in the background for years—and somehow, it led us here.

We stepped back in time, quite literally, searching the surrounding landscape for a local source of clay suitable for plastering. What we found was not just material, but a process. We built a simple device for sifting the خاک, experimented with mixtures, and slowly learned how to work with something that doesn’t rush and doesn’t forgive shortcuts.

Friends and volunteers joined us from across the world—Germany, Spain, Slovakia, Canada, the USA, and the Czech Republic. Most had never worked with clay before. It didn’t matter. Clay has its own way of teaching. Hands replace instructions, and walls become a shared canvas.

What emerged from this international cooperation is more than just a finished surface. Clay plaster is alive in a way modern materials rarely are. It breathes with the building, regulating humidity and allowing old stone walls to function as they were meant to. It helps keep interiors naturally cool in summer and balanced in winter, while also improving air quality.

It’s no coincidence that the building industry is rediscovering what was once common knowledge. More and more contemporary products are now based on clay, valued for their low environmental impact, recyclability, and the comfort they bring to living spaces.

For us, though, this is not innovation—it’s reconnection. A return to something simple, proven, and quietly powerful.
